Wild Brook Retreat

During last visit to Wild Brook Retreat (www.wildbrookretreat.com) located in Gohari range of Rajaji National Park in June I found some mango trees in our premises which were bearing fruits. I got some nice chutney and "Lonji" made out of it there and brought some fruits to Kaipur which werd used by Dr.Smita to makeHeeng ki achari with whold red chillies. What more can you expect from summer seaon and a fertile land with a stream flowing by.

Wild Boar ( Sus scrofa) is native to Eurasia and North Africa.
It is commonly seen in Gohari range of Rajaji National Park. Large males are solitary but females and young males live in groups specially referred to as 'sounders'. A large male is probably a fierce fighter and fights till death even with tiger if attacked. Feeds on vegetable substance by and large but has been observed to feed on dead animals too.

Water holes in Rajaji National Park,Uttarakhand start shrinking in May and June before the National Park closes down. Elephants live in family groups and they play and interact while splashing water over them. During a Jungle safari run by Wild Brook
( www.wildbrookretreat.com) we observed them marching in a file and saw two young males testing their power.
