Prof. T Govindaraju from Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), has received the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, 2021. The Prize is for his ground-breaking concepts and discoveries, which have significant potential for diagnosis and treatment for Alzheimer’s, lung cancer among other health problems.

The Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology is a science award given annually by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) for notable and outstanding research, applied or fundamental, in biology, chemistry, environmental science, engineering, mathematics, medicine, and Physics. The award is named after the founder Director of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar. The prize comprises a citation, a plaque, and a cash award of ₹5 lakh.

• Every year, 17th September is observed as World Patient Safety Day (WPSD) to raise global awareness about patient safety and call for solidarity and united action by all countries and international partners to reduce patient harm.
• WPSD is one of the 11 official global public health campaigns celebrated by WHO.

Theme 2021
• The theme of 2021 is "Safe maternal and newborn care.”
• About 810 women die in a day from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth.
• Also, about 6700 newborns die every day, which makes up 47% of all under-5 deaths.
• Moreover, about 2 million babies are stillborn every year, with over 40% occurring during labour.
• This data is alerting us towards the burden of risks and harm women and newborns are exposed to due to unsafe care.

14 सितम्बर 1949 को संविधान सभा ने यह निर्णय लिया कि हिन्दी भी केन्द्र सरकार की आधिकारिक भाषा होगी क्योंकि भारत मे अधिकतर क्षेत्रों में ज्यादातर हिन्दी भाषा बोली जाती थी। हिन्दी को प्रत्येक क्षेत्र में प्रसारित करने के लिये वर्ष 1953 से पूरे भारत में 14 सितम्बर को प्रतिवर्ष हिन्दी-दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है। स्वतन्त्रता प्राप्ति के बाद हिन्दी को आधिकारिक भाषा के रूप में स्थापित करवाने के लिए काका कालेलकर, हजारीप्रसाद द्विवेदी, सेठ गोविन्ददास आदि साहित्यकारों को साथ लेकर व्यौहार राजेन्द्र सिंह ने अथक प्रयास किये।

हिन्‍दी भाषा का इतिहास लगभग एक सहस्र वर्ष पुराना माना गया है। हिन्‍दी भाषा व साहित्‍य के जानकार अपभ्रंश की अन्तिम अवस्‍था अवहट्ठ से हिन्‍दी का उद्भव स्‍वीकार करते हैं। चन्द्रधर शर्मा 'गुलेरी' ने इसी अवहट्ठ को 'पुरानी हिन्दी' नाम दिया।
