Western Command

Lt Gen , AVSM, VSM, GOC , inaugurated a Cardiac Screening Centre at MH Ambala, for providing state of art facilities like ECHO, TMT, digital Doppler, automatic BP monitoring, 24 hrs holter, Cardiac marker Analyzer, BMI analyzer & Spirometry. The GOC also inspected recently renovated Accident and Emergency Department along with Zonal President AWWA. Both the facilities have given a major fillip to healthcare infrastructure for Ambala Station.

Lt Gen , AVSM, SM**, ArmyCommander WesternCommand held a meeting with Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab Shri Bhagwant Mann on 14 May 2026. The meeting was convened to discuss issues related to Civil Military Synergy. Also present in the meeting were Chief Secretary of Punjab Shri KAP Sinha, IAS, Brig Sameer Thakkar, VSM and Col Jasdeep Sandhu, Advisor Civil Military Affairs of HQ Western Command. This was the first meeting of the Army Commander with the Chief Minister since assuming the command of Western Army.

Matters pertaining to Border Management, Internal Security, Youth empowerment, rehabilitation of Agniveers, important land acquisition cases affecting operational preparedness, disaster management, recruitment in Armed Forces, welfare measures like housing project for serving personnel and veterans of Army were discussed during the meeting. It was agreed that utmost priority will be accorded to conclude all ongoing projects initiated in the Border areas to enhance operational capability.

The meeting has further strengthened the Civil Military Synergy in the region and enhanced the confidence and trust towards joint policy coordination, internal security and response to natural disasters, external threats and other crises.
