The Rustic Tune

That she—drowned in note,
sshhh! Let her not be adjourned.
Amid harnesses and hoof,
giggles!—the cowboys move.

Wonder—what she sings!
Mercy! empower me to know.
But chants that entice,
to tell far-off joys that glow.

Hiding sun, beneath the tree top,
A beauty mixed in pale and drop,
Song that soothes, and cherish-
No dare before her, I vanish.
