Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL), is a schedule ‘A’ Public Sector Undertaking under the administrative control of Government of India (Ministry of Railways). It is the most ambitious and biggest ever project in infrastructure sector, set-up to give economy a boost and build high capacity and high speed rail freight corridors along the golden quadrilateral and its diagonals.

A container goods train hauled by the high-capacity WAG-12 locomotive (No. 60100) departed from JNPT at 21:38 hrs for CONCOR GCT Varnama, marking a significant milestone in the commencement of freight operations from India's largest container port on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC). The train successfully reached New Saphale, demonstrating the seamless integration of port-led cargo movement with DFCCIL’s high-capacity freight network.

The swift movement of freight from ports to hinterland markets is critical for supporting manufacturing, trade, exports, and industrial growth. As rail freight continues to gain momentum, it is helping reduce logistics costs, improve network efficiency, and create sustainable transportation solutions for the future.

DFCCIL successfully organised CGM Conference on Contractual Disputes & Contract Closures of EDFC at Heavy Haul Institute, Noida, under the leadership of Sh. Praveen Kumar, MD/DFCCIL.

The conference was attended by Sh. Anurag Sharma, Director/Infra; Sh. Pawan Kumar Rai, Director/PP; Sh. B. Mugunthan, Director/Finance, along with CGMs of EDFC Units and other senior officials of DFCCIL.

A special legal session by Sh. Shourav Lahiri, Barrister, provided valuable insights into contemporary dispute management practices, contractual risk mitigation, and legal frameworks related to infrastructure projects.

The conference focused on contractual dispute resolution, pressing contractual challenges, review of ongoing arbitration and dispute cases, and expediting contract closure mechanisms across EDFC units. The seminar also emphasised institutional coordination, compliance measures, and adoption of best practices for effective contract management.

The event also witnessed the meeting and signing of the contract agreement for the Rail Grinding Machine between DFCCIL and Vandana International Pvt. Ltd, marking another important step towards strengthening maintenance capabilities on the Dedicated Freight Corridor network.

Detailed presentations were made by Ambala, Tundla, Prayagraj, and DDU Units highlighting unit-wise contractual issues, dispute cases, and operational concerns. Deliberations were held on actionable strategies, timely resolution mechanisms, and streamlining contract closure processes for improved project ex*****on.

The conference concluded with guidance from the senior leadership reaffirming DFCCIL’s commitment towards efficient contract management, accountability, and streamlined project ex*****on.
