🌍 On this World Day Against Child Labour, we unite under the theme "Let's Act on Our Commitments: End Child Labour!" At MASH Project Foundation, we’re spotlighting India's dedicated efforts to protect children and eradicate child labour.

🇮🇳 In 1992, India ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), promising to safeguard children's rights and prohibit child labour. This commitment has led to significant legal reforms, including the Juvenile Justice Act of 2000, fortifying the framework for child protection and reducing child labour incidents.

👩‍🏫 The National Child Labour Project (NCLP) Scheme, revamped in 2006, exemplifies India’s dedication to rehabilitate child labourers. Special schools now provide education, vocational training, and meals, rescuing thousands of children from hazardous conditions and integrating them into formal education.

📜 By ratifying ILO Conventions No. 138 and 182 in 2017, India committed to setting a minimum employment age and eliminating the worst forms of child labour. These steps, supported by the Child Labour Act amendments, have enforced stricter penalties and promoted child education, significantly reducing hazardous child labour.

💻 In 2020, the PENCIL Portal was launched to ensure the effective enforcement of child labour laws. This online platform enhances transparency, accountability, and coordination among stakeholders, streamlining complaint redressal and monitoring child labour cases.

🌐 At the Global Conference on Child Labour in 2021, India reaffirmed its pledge to eliminate child labour by 2025 as part of the Sustainable Development Goals. Strengthened action plans, increased budgets, and public awareness campaigns demonstrate India's renewed focus on this critical issue.
