I will always remember the words of one of the guest speakers, "Acceptance is not enough. Affirming is more important". The Q***r Affirmative Counselling Practice Course (QACP) was a unique experience that turned my understanding of the society we live in upside down. It made me aware, reflect, question, and realize how privileged I am & how marginalization is a part of every sphere of our lives. Being accepting is one thing, but holding space and affirming for those at the margins, that's what actually counts.

With this course, I feel a lot more equipped to be a q***r affirmative therapist, to provide space and affirm the lived experiences of the q***r folx in particular, and provide for a space that is affirming for everyone.
