ACP is an organization of internists - physician specialists who apply scientific knowledge and clinical expertise to the diagnosis, treatment, and compassionate care of adults across the spectrum from health to complex illness. With 141,000 members consisting of internists, internal medicine subspecialists, residents, fellows, and medical students, ACP is the largest medical-specialty society in the world. Almost 12,000 members reside outside the United States. ACP is focused on advancing the science through its publications, in particular the Annals of Internal Medicine, setting clinical standards, advocacy efforts for better healthcare in the U.S., educational programs such as meetings at the national and chapter levels, web and print based materials, in particular, the Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment Program (MKSAP).
