Thank you TheBetterIndia for featuring our work.
For thousands of girls, periods begin with a warning —
hide it, don’t talk about it, manage somehow.
Dr. Megha Bhargava chose to rewrite that first lesson.
Through Samarpan, she is bringing back cloth — not as a compromise, but as a lab-tested, leak-proof, reusable solution that lasts 2–3 years and comes with one powerful addition: knowledge.
It is in the choice, the safety and the confidence to use it.
The numbers tell their own story:
15,000 girls reached
75 plastic pads kept out of landfills per girl, every year
Fewer rashes. More comfort. More school days.
In her workshops, myths are washed away in sunlight, just like the pads.
Shame turns into science.
And a girl learns that her body is not something to hide — but something to understand.
This is not about cloth vs plastic.
This is about health, sustainability and agency — in the same conversation.
15,000 girls already know the difference.
And they are carrying it forward — with confidence.

Not every child walks into a classroom with the tools they need.
But every child deserves the chance to learn, grow and dream—without barriers.
Adhyayan Kits help make that possible by providing essential learning materials to children who need them most.
Support learning. Support Adhyayan Kits.

Sisters Ruma and Megha Bhargava are driving change through Samarpan, a Mumbai-based organisation working in rural Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to tackle menstrual stigma and school dropouts. By introducing reusable sanitary pads and education-led awareness, they are helping girls manage periods safely and with dignity.
Samarpan has reached 50,000+ children across 250+ government schools, with measurable improvements in school attendance and health outcomes. Their work was recognised with the Forbes India We Serve India Award 2025 for Women-Led Social Innovation.
