Since I was 15 years old, I had the vision of making my own Space - decorating it how I like, buying groceries, doing “boring” house chores…

So while all my siblings went abroad or in other cities to study, I had the honour of staying back home and seeing my parents grow through all their wonderful phases.

But I did feel left out, sometimes…

Mumbai feels like Home to me, so the thought of abandoning this city and going someplace in India didn’t make any sense to me.

And when I finally got financially independent (almost 2 years ago) and hit 25 - it’s like a timer went off in me & it said ONLY one thing: MOVE OUT & LIVE INDEPENDENTLY.

Now, to be honest I didn’t really need to do this. My parents live in the same city, and I’ve gotten all the freedom in the world I could’ve ever asked for. (Also, I acknowledge the privilege of my background as well)

However, this was about me and no one else!
I remember when I started looking for houses, people started asking my parents if “things were okay between us”.

It’s still super foreign for kids in India to move out willingly, as in not for education, career or travel purposes. But they held my hand through it all (even though they did try to blackmail me emotionally at times 😂).

So, I finally MOVED OUT

Not because something is wrong with my family
Not because I need more “freedom”
Not because there is something unfulfilled

But because I can, & I wanted to 🙏🏼
