Workplaces Shine Brighter with Neurodivergent Talent

I met a young man with Down Syndrome at a well-known five-star hotel, and honestly, it was one of those moments that hits you in the feels. He was dusting and decorating the Christmas tree, totally in his zone, greeting everyone with this warm, confident smile. You could literally see the pride in his eyes.

I got curious and asked a staff member whether he was an intern or a full-time employee. She smiled and told me she was happy I noticed him. He’s been a permanent staff member for about a month now, after completing two full years as an intern. She also shared that while the hotel has hired several adults with speech and hearing impairments, they had four applicants with Down Syndrome and chose him because of his dedication and ability to consistently finish tasks on time.

Honestly, moments like this remind us how much talent we overlook in the neurodivergent community. It would be amazing if more industries and hotels opened meaningful job opportunities for individuals with neurological conditions like Autism, developmental delays, and others. Everyone deserves a chance to shine.
