Village Panchayat in Goa Goes Solar ☀️🏫

Cavelossim Village Panchayat in South Goa has taken a significant step towards sustainability and energy independence by installing an 8.6 kW SUN360 Solar Rooftop System. ☀️

The Panchayat Hall serves as an important community space for meetings, awareness programs, and public functions. However, rising electricity costs were increasing operational expenses.

With the vision of the Panchayat members and the Sarpanch, the solar rooftop system is now helping reduce electricity expenses while powering the facility with clean, renewable energy.

Key highlights of the installation include:

✅ Supporting the goal of achieving a near-zero electricity bill

✅ Potentially offsetting nearly 9 tons of CO₂ emissions annually

✅ Environmental impact equivalent to planting approximately 400 trees

✅ Contributing towards a cleaner and more sustainable future for Goa

This project demonstrates how local governing bodies can lead by example, adopting renewable energy solutions that benefit both the community and the environment.

A sincere thank you to the Sarpanch and the members of the Cavelossim Village Panchayat for their trust and commitment towards sustainable development.

25% Inverter Overloading Is Standard Industry Practice ⚡

One of the biggest misconceptions in solar is that adding more solar panels than the inverter rating will damage the inverter.

When people hear the term "inverter overloading," they often imagine the inverter being pushed beyond its limits and eventually failing.

But that's not how solar systems are designed.

Solar panels achieve their rated power only under STC (Standard Test Conditions):

✅ 25°C ambient temperature

✅ 1,000 W/m² solar irradiance

✅ Wind speed of 1 m/s

These conditions are rarely achieved on an actual rooftop.

In real-world operation, systems perform under NOC (Normal Operating Conditions), where output is typically around 24–25% lower than the STC rating.

This means a 10 kW solar plant may produce around 7.5 kW under ideal real-world conditions.

So if you're paying for a 10 kW inverter but only utilizing around 7.5 kW most of the time, that doesn't make much sense.

That's why inverter manufacturers allow additional solar panel capacity to be connected to the inverter.

Instead of:

🔹 10 kW Panels + 10 kW Inverter

A common industry design is:

🔹 12.5 kW Panels + 10 kW Inverter

This helps the inverter operate closer to its full 10 kW AC output while using the same inverter.

✅ Better inverter utilization

✅ Higher energy generation

✅ Same inverter cost

✅ Up to 2.5 kW additional solar capacity

So the next time someone says a solar inverter is being overloaded, remember: in many cases, it's not a mistake. It's a standard engineering practice used across the solar industry to maximize real-world system performance.
