It was a Princely State ruled by Jadeja clan of Rajputs until Indian independence in 1947. The most important Morbi buildings are Darbargadh, Mani Mandir, Wellingdon Secretariat, Suspension Bridge, Art Deco Palace and Lukhdhirji Engineering College.
