Congratulations to Prof. Sampa Anupurba Pahi, IIM Lucknow, and co-authors on the publication of their research article, “Artificial Voices, Real Causes: The Dilemma of Virtual Influencer-Driven Brand Activism,” in Psychology & Marketing (ABDC A, ABS 3).
Through the analysis of 14,464 Instagram posts from 18 Virtual Influencers (VIs) and an experiment, the study examines the effect of virtual influencer-driven brand activism on consumer engagement intensity.
The research finds that realistic, non-brand-owned virtual influencers generate stronger consumer engagement and more meaningful interactions, offering valuable insights for brands seeking to build credible and impactful purpose-driven campaigns.
