Many children with Autism Spectrum Disorders are reported to be strong in visual processing and this strength has often been relied upon to help them inmany ways – communicate better with them, plan and organize their day, and anticipate changes from everyday routine and help them deal with it better,as well as address behavioral meltdowns and tantrums. This little booklet and the accompanying pictures were compiled by our colleagues Dr. Priyanka Singh and Mr.Swastik Padhi, from Creative Minds,Lucknow, and are intended to assist therapists and families in using an array of visuals in communicating with and helping the child cope with the eventsin his daily life, by anticipating the events and the steps to be taken within these events. We have provided you with access to the common visuals, which have been useful in our experience over the last couple of decades. We trust that youwill find these visuals and visual schedules useful in managing your child’s daily schedule and encourage you to extend the use of visuals to othersituations that are specific to your child and family, with suitable pictures. We welcome your feedback and suggestions.
