From a ₹4 Lakh Estimate to Less Than 10% of the Cost.

This 2014 BMW F10 520d M Sport with 80,000 km on the odometer came to Germantech with a major steering gearbox complaint.

The car has a complete dealership service history, and after inspection, the authorized service center provided an estimate of over ₹4 Lakhs, including the steering gearbox, programming, and labour charges.

After our diagnosis, we found that the steering gearbox could be professionally refurbished, avoiding the need for a complete replacement.

The total repair cost is less than 10% of the dealership estimate, making it a far more practical solution for the owner.

The customer also arrived at the right time. Had the vehicle been driven much longer with the faulty steering gearbox, the internal damage could have become severe enough to make refurbishment impossible.

We are rebuilding the unit using original-quality components and completing the service with genuine engine oil to ensure long-term reliability.

Once completed, the vehicle will be ready for many more kilometres of confident driving.

BMW F30 3 Series (2013–2018) Service Guide

If you own a BMW F30 3 Series, especially the popular 320d, following the correct maintenance schedule is the key to long-term reliability and lower ownership costs.

Recommended Service Intervals:

• Engine oil and oil filter – Every 10,000 to 12,000 km
• For low annual usage, a basic oil service is usually sufficient
• For higher mileage vehicles, replace the air filter and AC filter along with the oil service

At Around 50,000 km:

• Replace the fuel filter
• Inspect suspension and drivetrain components
• Check for any oil leaks or wear items

Every 2 Years:

• Replace the brake fluid as recommended by BMW
• Inspect braking components and hydraulic systems

Transmission Service:

BMW labels the 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox fluid as “lifetime oil.” However, most transmission specialists recommend replacing the transmission fluid and filter at approximately 80,000 km, especially under Indian driving conditions.
