A free 10-day online course is being offered by ISRO's Indian Institute of Remote Sensing. The "Geodata Processing Using Python" course will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis from 16th January to 27th January 2023. This initiative is being funded by the Indian Space Research Organization.

Students/ professionals who meet the attendance and performance standards (minimum 40% on the online test) are also eligible for an ISRO completion certificate. Students and professionals from any field are welcome to apply, but they must have a basic knowledge of remote sensing, GIS, and computer programming, preferably in Python.

NASA has launched its first mission to examine worldwide freshwater systems. On Friday, 16th December 2022, the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission launched from Space Launch Complex 4E at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket was used to launch the SWOT spacecraft into orbit.
As the first mission to do so from orbit, the mission aims to examine not only the oceans but also freshwater systems including lakes and rivers. In order to obtain an overall understanding of the movement of water around the planet, the mission is intended to investigate the water flow between these systems and the ocean as well as to observe the depth of the water.
