woh jo badi der tak tum mujhe
apne bahon mein simatne dete ho
pal pal in sukoon ko jor
aise hi zindagi bitaoge kya?

subha ki zarurat
sham ki talab tum,
zehen mein basa hua
mehekta sa koi ittar tum,
ek pyali chai k jaise,
har sar dard ki dawa banoge kya?

manga to nahi tha
duaon mein tumhe,
kismat ki hi thi koi sazish,
agar, par, shayed, lekin..
dil k inn uljhano ko roz
aise hi rat ko suljhaoge kya?
av av jo mehendi lagayi maine hatheli pe
chadhti hui inn rangon ki wajah banoge kya?

meri chuppi ka ek lauta hissa banoge kya?
meri kahaniyon ka sabse ahem kissa banoge kya?

but I pick out a Polish lullaby
I pick it out of the static
it fades I wait I keep the beat
it comes back almost alseep

Did you take the telephone
knowing I'd sniff it immoderately
maybe heat up the plastic
to get all the crumbs of your breath

and if you won't come back
how will you phone to say
you won't come back
so that I could at least argue.

This canadian poet explored every aspect of emotions by his mighty pen. A renowned singer, poet, novelist but most importantly a fine man he was. Thanks you Mr. Cohen for being a fine voyager of this eternal journey called life. Thanks for existing.
