Grateful to have attended the international science lecture and workshop organized by the Marine Biological Association of India in collaboration with Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean studies and hosted at ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute , Kochi.
The session, “A Tale of 2 Oceans: Crabs in the Indian and Pacific Oceans – Patterns, Connections and Vicariance,” delivered by Peter Ng Kee Lin, offered deep insights into crab biogeography, taxonomy, and evolutionary linkages between oceanic regions.
I am especially happy that our FYUGP internship students from SSV college & ECOR Foundation got the opportunity to attend this session, interact with leading scientists, and gain exposure to international-level research discussions. Experiences like this are crucial in shaping the next generation of marine scientists.
I truly appreciate the generosity of the organizers for accommodating us and providing such a valuable learning experience.
It was also a pleasure to meet and click a photo with Chan Tin-Yam from National Taiwan Ocean University.
Looking forward to integrating these insights into my ongoing research in crab behavioural ecology and comparative crustacean studies.

Day 02 FYUGP Internship.
As part of our Internship Program, we organized an enriching field visit to Paniyeli Poru and Abhayaranyam at Kaprikad, where students had the opportunity to explore the magnificent Periyar River the longest river in Kerala and one of the state's most important freshwater ecosystems.
During the field trip, students observed the diverse flora and fauna along the riverbanks, gaining practical exposure to ecosystem dynamics, biodiversity, and habitat conservation. At the mini zoo and wildlife park, they also encountered several fascinating wild animals, including spotted deer, sambar deer, and elephants.
This hands-on learning experience helped bridge classroom knowledge with real-world environmental understanding, inspiring students to appreciate the value of conservation and ecological research.
We are proud to provide such experiential learning opportunities through our internship initiatives.
