Appreciation and encouragement are two elements that always inspire people to do better. Always be sure to praise your child on their achievements no matter how little it is. This will have a very positive influence on their psyche and boost their confidence and also motivate them to get things done quicker and better. This is also a good way to find what activities they have an inclination towards and makes it easy for you to guide them through those certain activities. All of these aside, the most important thing to remember is that every child is unique and have different skills. As parents, our job is to guide and encourage them and not to push them into doing something that we want.

Consider signing them up for athletic, artistic or intellectual activities. It's one of the best ways to find where your childs true calling is. Suggest some activities but if they refuse, re-consider that activity. Present them with multiple options and let them choose what they like and support their decision.
