🇮🇳 Did You Know? | The Only Bharat Ratna That Was Never Conferred 🏅

In 1992, the Government of India decided to confer the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
But the move faced opposition from some of his family members, who refused to accept his death — a mystery that still haunts Indian history.

In 1997, the Supreme Court cancelled the award, making it the only instance where the Bharat Ratna was announced but never officially conferred.

A rare moment when sentiment, legal interpretation, and unresolved history collided.

🔥 Chauri Chaura Incident | A Turning Point in India’s Freedom Struggle 🇮🇳

On February 4, 1922, in Chauri Chaura near Gorakhpur (U.P.), a crowd of 2000 gathered to picket a liquor shop during the peak of the Non-Cooperation Movement. When police fired at protestors, killing 3, the enraged mob burnt down the police station, killing 23 policemen.

This violent turn shocked Mahatma Gandhi, who called off the entire movement just 8 days later on February 12 at the Bardoli meeting — a decision that created controversy, disappointment, and disunity among Congress ranks.
Still, Gandhi's moral authority made them accept it.

🛑 On March 10, 1922, Gandhi was arrested, tried in Ahmedabad, and sentenced to 6 years in prison.

📍 Chauri Chaura reminded the nation of Gandhi's commitment to non-violence, even at the cost of a mass movement.
