Landslide Hits Vaishno Devi Track, Yatra Unaffected

Jammu, July 8th (CNS): A landslide triggered by heavy rain hit the new Vaishno Devi Yatra track near Himkoti in Reasi on Wednesday evening. Officials said the pilgrimage is continuing smoothly via the old track.

The battery car service on the new track has been temporarily suspended, while the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has launched debris clearance and restoration work.

PDD Lineman Electrocuted to Death During Repair Work in Bandipora

Bandipora, July 8th (CNS): A Power Development Department (PDD) lineman died after being electrocuted while repairing a transmission line near Galkaloo Crossing in Bandipora district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Ismail, son of Abdul Aziz and a resident of Galkaloo, Garoora. He sustained a fatal electric shock during the repair work.

He was immediately shifted to District Hospital Bandipora, where doctors declared him brought dead.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area, with residents expressing grief over the tragic loss.
