बेशक गर्मियों की छुट्टियों में बच्चे विद्यालयों से दूर रहे, लेकिन पुस्तकें, बच्चों से दूर ना रहीं।
कोटाबाग, नैनीताल के गांवों में Himmotthan: An Associate Organization of the Tata Trusts द्वारा गर्मियों की छुट्टियों में बच्चों तक बाल साहित्य पुस्तकें पहुंचाई गईं। दुर्गम पहाड़ों में यह बहुत बड़ी चुनौती भी थी।
इन दुर्गम पहाड़ी इलाकों तक पुस्तकें पहुंचाने का केवल एक रास्ता बचा था, घोड़े। इसलिए पहल शुरू हुई, एक चलती फिरती लाइब्रेरी की, एक ऐसी लाइब्रेरी जिसके कदम पहाड़ों की चढ़ाई में भी, निरंतर आगे बढ़ें, घोड़ा लाइब्रेरी।
पर्वतीय गांव बाघनी, छड़ा एवं जलना के युवाओं एवं स्थानीय शिक्षा प्रेरकों की मदद से घोड़ा लाइब्रेरी की शुरुआत की गई। दुर्गम पर्वतीय ग्राम तोकों में "घोड़ा लाइब्रेरी" के माध्यम से पुस्तकें पहुंचाई जा रही हैं, ताकि पहाड़ के बच्चों को भी पढ़ने के लिए, रोचक कहानी-कविताएं निरंतर मिल पाएं।
