a) Basic level- Duration of 75 hrs in which students will be imparted basic writing, reading, listening and speaking skills of Japanese. Better understanding of grammar, vocabulary, verbal communication & reading skills. c) Advance Level - On completing Primary level, the student comes to this level. JLPT Certified course :
Japan Foundation, Japan conducts Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) worldwide twice in a year- first Sunday of July and first Sunday of December. In India currently it is conducted in six cities- Pune, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Banglore and Delhi. To take Japanese as a profession it is required to clear this Test. The test is conducted for five levels namely :-
Go Kyu (Level 5)-
An individual is able to read and understand basic expressions, communication and sentences written in hiragana, katakana, and basic kanji (pictorial script)
Also, one is able to listen and interpret conversations in daily life and classroom situations, and is able to pick up necessary information from short conversations spoken slowly. Yon Kyu (Level 4)-
An individual is able to read and understand passages on familiar day to day topics written in basic vocabulary and kanji. Moreover, one is able to listen and understand conversations encountered in daily life and generally follow their contents, provided that they are spoken slowly. San Kyu (level 3)-
At this level a student is able to read and understand written materials with specific contents concerning everyday topics. Grasping of the language also enhances. In addition, one is also able to read slightly difficult writings and understand the main points of the content. Vocabulary is definitely given importance. Listening skills of the student also get better and at this stage they get accustomed with the Japanese accent. Ni Kyu (Level 2)-
A student is able to read materials written clearly on a variety of topics, such as articles and commentaries in newspapers and magazines and understand their contents. One is also able to read written materials on general topics and follow their narratives as well as understand the intent of the writers. One is able to understand conversations and news reports, spoken at nearly natural speed in everyday situations One is also able to understand the relationships among the people involved and the essential points of the presented materials. I Kyu (Level 1)-
A student can also understand complex conversations, abstract writings on a variety of topics, such as newspaper editorials and understand both their structures and contents. An individual is now comfortable to move around in Japanese society and to go on with Japanese people. He has achieved a proficiency level because of which he can speak, write, read Japanese without any hindrances. Minimum qualification required to start learning Japanese Language is you must have cleared standard 10th exam. Individuals like students, employees of MNCs, house wives, and any other individual who wants to learn a foreign language.
