The National Doctor's Day was first observed in India in 1991. July 1, the birth anniversary of Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy, a physician, academician, philanthropist, freedom fighter and politician, is observed as the National Doctor's Day in India. On this day, contributions of doctors to mankind are acknowledged.
