Kolkata is an emotion for Bengalis outside Kolkata. As the flight touches down at Netaji International Airport, having butterflies in your stomach is given. And also a broad smile. From your home to old paras (neighbourhood) to school friends to reunions, the local bazaar to chai, Misti, fish fry and the biriyani. Everything is a sensory and emotional overload. Visiting Kolkata during winters is the cherry on the cake. Winter flowers, nolen gur, vintage cars on display, heritage walks, art exhibitions and so much more. Best of course being meeting friends and family.

KOLKATA DIARIES - Part 4 - Metcalfe Hall

An old Kolkata Building with sky high ceilings have been restored and used as an exhibit Center as well as for events. Multiple facets of Bengali culture are depicted here. From retro music and film posters along a wooden stairway, a work in progress Durga Protima, homage to freedmen fighters, giant topor - the hat worn by Bengali grooms - to multiple other artefacts - this place is an art and culture lovers delight. Not to mention, several great backdrops and spots for photography.

Can AI understand handmade nuances?

Bird motifs were among my very first hand-painted coaster designs. Recently, someone liked these two so much, he wanted a set of 12 birds along his stairway.I just could not recall the rest of the motifs !

Using these two coasters as reference, I asked AI to suggest similar bird motifs with the same aesthetic and mood—and frankly, I was surprised by how well it picked up the nuances
