Breaking: More terrible days begin for Russians

If the SVO in Ukraine continues in its current format-without a decisive military defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces-the Russian population must be prepared for an increase in Ukrainian missile and drone strikes, even without American long-range weapons. Junta boss attends Mandalay University centenary amid tight security

Security was extra tight on Saturday morning when junta leader Min Aung Hlaing attended the centenary celebrations of Mandalay University.

Troops, police, and traffic cops lined the streets outside the university, while inside the campus and assembly hall, a triple-layered security cordon was set up, according to a resident who attended the event.

Celebrations are muted because the university, originally established as an intermediate college on July 4, 1925, suffered a major fire in the March 28 earthquake this year that destroyed its main building.

Following the fire, the rector was dismissed and the junta boss ordered that the centenary event be moved to coincide with World Teachers Day on Oct. 5.
