Pediment vs Pediplain vs Peneplain
Understanding three major erosional landforms in geomorphology:
🔹 Pediment — A gently sloping rock surface formed at mountain fronts by sheet wash and weathering in arid regions.
🔹 Pediplain — A broad low-relief plain created by the coalescence of multiple pediments through pediplanation and scarp retreat.
🔹 Peneplain — A nearly level erosional surface formed by prolonged river erosion near base level in humid environments.
These landforms reveal how climate, erosion, and landscape evolution shape Earth’s surface over geological time. ⛰️➡️🌄➡️🌿
