26 years old Techie a Computer Engineer lost her job in MNC due to Lockdown, she starts selling vegetables in Hyderabad

The techie said that she kept ‘false prestige’ aside and started selling vegetables for survival

She is able to pay her house rent and meet all the needs of her family members

She opted for selling vegetables because her father himself used to sell vegetables

The economic crisis unleashed by the pandemic-induced lockdown resulted in job losses for crores of Indians, making them struggle to make their ends meet.

But, where there’s a will there’s a way despite all odds. Battered by financial crisis after losing a job in an MNC in Hyderabad, 26-year-old Unadadi Sharada, a native of Warangal district, took to selling vegetables for surviving these testing times. Keeping “false prestige” aside, she wakes up every day a 4 am, travels to the wholesale market for buying vegetables and then sells them on a pavement by spending almost 12 hours.

'Honourable life with hard work'

Three months after Sharada joined the MNC, the pandemic crisis began. The company was not in a position to pay her half the salary. Also, there were no projects to accommodate her in. So, she had to leave the job. “There is nothing to ashamed of. It was a question of survival… I have been able to pay our house rent, meet all our family needs and we are able to live an honourable life with our hard work”, a Times of India report quoted Sharada as saying.

Sharada, a graduate in computer science engineering, worked as a project analyst in a company in Delhi for several years. Then she quit that job and tried to set her own projects for about two years. Later, she joined the MNC in Hyderabad as her own projects did not take off due to financial reasons. However, she was rendered jobless after three months into the job.

Techie's father was a vegetable vendor

After losing the job, Sharada opted for selling vegetables because her father Venkataiah himself used to sell vegetables. However, she also mentioned that she would want to get employed in the formal sector as she doesn’t want to sell vegetables always
