Manage Acidity Naturally

We have all suffered from it at some point or the other. Acidity is one of the most common problems faced by us. Our over-scheduled life style leads us to skip meals, wrong eating habits, and couple it with too much fondness for junk and spicy foods. These are the common reasons to cause acidity. My Health Guardian discusses acidity in detail with experts. Keep reading to know the causes, symptoms and best kept home remedies for treating acidity.
What causes acidity?
Acid is produced in our stomach to help in digesting the food we eat, but when there isn’t enough food to digest, or if this acid is produced more than the required quantity, it leads to acidity. Too much of work pressure or family tensions over a long period of time can lead to the body system to reacting adversely and can cause acidity.
Common symptoms:
When acidity hits, we feel burning sensations in the throat, sour taste in the mouth. Belching and vomiting can also accompany acidity.
Few best kept home remedies to cure acidity
You can say goodbye to acidity forever, without even visiting a doctor, if you strictly follow the below mentioned home remedies on a regular basis. Here are the options:
• Consume a few tulsi (basil) leaves; it will give you instant relief from acidity. Make a habit to chew basil daily early in the morning to keep acidity on bay forever. Just like tulsi leaves, sipping water boiled with chopped mint leaves proves to be the best bet against acidity.
• Swallow 8-10 grains of raw uncooked rice with water before having your breakfast or eating anything in the morning. Do this for 21 days to see effective results & continue for 3 months to eliminate acidity from the body.
• Chew aniseed (saunf) after meals: Chewing some sauf after meals is a good practice, because sauf helps in digestion and thus is good for those who suffer from acidity. For quick relief, add one teaspoon of sauf to one cup of boiled water and keep overnight. In the morning, strain the water and add a teaspoon of honey and drink this liquid throughout the day.
• Sip cold milk: Milk taken either cold or warm, is the best acidity buster as it completely neutralizes the acidic effect of the food thereby giving relief to the body.
• Keep a small lump of Gur (jaggery) in your mouth and keep sucking onto it slowly. The sweet juice of jaggery subside acidity completely.

Besides these tips, consuming adequate amount of water is the best option. Drink water the moment you get up in the morning. This would flush out, the excess acid in the stomach and other unwanted material that would have accumulated during the night. Also, coconut water if taken thrice daily would help in fighting acidity.

Do remember that regular exercise and meditation is also must as it would keep the stomach, digestive system and the nervous system in balance. As depression and anxiety are also known to contribute to acidity.
