WINGS successfully conducted its 2nd Mega Awareness Campaign under The Habitats Trust's Action Grant for the Indian Grey Wolf Conservation Project on 5th April 2026 at the Asansol Forest Range under the Durgapur Division, Paschim Bardhaman. As part of the campaign, a hands-on camera-trapping training session was organized for officials and staff of the Asansol Range of the Durgapur Forest Division, West Bengal Forest Department. The program witnessed active participation from more than 40 forest department personnel along with around 15 additional participants, making the event highly successful. This initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening conservation efforts by equipping forest frontline staff with essential technical skills for effective monitoring and protection of the Indian Grey Wolf.
During our field surveys, forest patches within the Asansol Range were identified as important habitats for the Indian Grey Wolf, underscoring the ecological significance of the area. In addition to camera trapping, participants received hands-on training in drone use, further enhancing their capacity for advanced wildlife monitoring and surveillance.

2nd Mega Awareness Campaign & Hands-on Training on Camera Trapping for Wildlife Conservation
We are thrilled to announce an intensive Hands-on Training Session on Camera Trapping, specifically designed for the frontline forest staff of the Asansol (Territorial) Range, Durgapur Division, Paschim Bardhaman.
The Asansol Region harbours a wide array of faunal diversity. To ensure its continued protection, it is essential to integrate traditional field expertise with modern technology. This session aims to empower our frontline heroes with the technical proficiency required for precise wildlife surveying, monitoring, and long-term conservation strategies.

WINGS successfully conducted its first Mega Awareness Campaign under THT’s Action Grant for the Indian Grey Wolf Conservation Project on 29th March 2026 at the Ukhra Forest Range Compound under the Durgapur Division, Paschim Bardhaman. As part of the campaign, a hands-on camera trapping training session was organized for the officials and staff of the Ukhra Range of the Durgapur Forest Division, West Bengal Forest Department. The programme was graced by the Assistant Divisional Forest Officer of Durgapur Division as the Chief Guest and witnessed active participation from more than 30 forest department personnel along with around 20 additional participants, making the event highly successful. This initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening conservation efforts by equipping forest frontline staff with essential technical skills for effective monitoring and protection of the Indian Grey Wolf.
During our field surveys, forest patches such as Madhaiganj and Kantaberia under the Ukhra Range were identified as important habitats for the Indian Grey Wolf, highlighting the ecological significance of the area. In addition to camera trapping, participants were also provided with hands-on training in the use of drones, further enhancing their capacity for advanced wildlife monitoring and surveillance.
