Most of the candidates who are determined to prepare for these exams tend to take the route to New Delhi since there is an age old convention called “Destination Delhi” which says that if one is determined to succeed in the civil services examination, he/she has to shift his base to Delhi to take up a coaching and to stay there through all attempts/years until he/she succeeds. Very few can hardly estimate the amount of hardships one is required to face and the amount of cost one has to incur for the very long stay in the National Capital. Finally, to top it all, more than 99% of such candidates do not clear the civil service examination and finally return to their home state, losing a couple of years and losing a hefty amount of money. If equal standard of training or even better quality of training in many areas, is obtainable in one’s home state, with very less or zero added costs of stay; then why one should shift his/her base to Delhi.
