Known for their coarse yet breathable texture, these textiles are crafted using handspun yarns on traditional pit looms, using a special manual method without any jala or jacquard or dobby, using cotton thread and natural dyes (often from plants/fruits).  The technique emphasizes durability and simplicity, often using thicker counts of cotton that give the fabric its distinctive, slightly rugged feel.
