The Indira Gandhi National Open University is offering a B.A.(Performing Arts) – Hindustani Music Hons. (BAPFHMH) in addition to a number of other disciplines from the July session of 2021. Information pertaining to the Programme is given below:
Objectives (BAPFHMH): The B.A.(Performing Arts) – Hindustani Music Hons.) Is designed to give an in-depth knowledge in the discipline of Hindustani Classical Music while allowing for exposure to subjects beyond the discipline as well. The programme is appropriate for ODL as it focuses on the skill and competences development having both professional and academic proficiency leading to job opportunities and over all development.
Learning Outcomes: By undergoing this programme, the learner will: -
• Earn the proficiency to sing the prescribed Ragas with correct voice production.
• Be able to demonstrate the prescribed Talas.
• Be capable to express their understanding of evolution of Indian Classical Music
• Be able to understand and elaborate the historical development of Hindustani Music.
• Gain knowledge about the treatises of music written through the ages.
• Earn proficiency to collaborate with fellow artists to put up a group stage show.
• Develop pedagogical understanding of the subject to get employed in teaching jobs
Eligibility: 10+2 or its equivalent
Medium of Instruction: Hindi
Duration: Minimum 3 years and Maximum 6 years; offered only in July cycle of admission.
Fee Structure: A total of Rs. 9, 200/ - per year along with registration fees Rs. 200/ at the time of registration.-
The University follows the credit system for offering all its programmes. One credit is equal to 30 hours of learners’ study time. To earn BA (Honours) Degree in a discipline, a learner has to complete courses worth 148 credits in a minimum of six semesters (three years) and maximum of 12 semesters (6 Years)
Delivery of the Programme:
The Programme will be delivered through the Web Enabled Academic Support (WEAS) and 15 days studio practice towards the end of each semester at PSC – 07187P, SOPVA, IGNOU Headquarters, New Delhi only (Under Regional Centre Delhi 1).
Note: It is mandatory for Student to provide own (actual) E-Mail ID in G-Mail account and own (actual) mobile number to avail the online academic support.
