Israel’s Lost Tribe Relocating from India? Who are the Bnei Menashe?
Over 250 Indians from the Bnei Menashe community have arrived in Israel under “Operation Wings of Dawn,” reigniting global interest in one of history’s most fascinating migration stories.
Believed to be descendants of the lost Tribe of Manasseh, one of the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel, the Bnei Menashe trace their origins back to ancient exile after the Assyrian conquest. Today, thousands from India’s Chin, Kuki, and Mizo communities are reconnecting with their claimed Jewish heritage.
From Mizoram and Manipur to Israel, this decades-long migration has accelerated since their official recognition as Jews in 2005. With plans to relocate nearly 6,000 more members by 2030, this journey is not just about geography, but identity, faith, and belonging.
