Jobs Opportunity in Manufacturing Industries after COVID-19

The ongoing lockdown has put a lot of strain in manufacturing industries, which contributes almost 20% of GDP. Of this 50% is contributed by auto industries. Even prior to lockdown, the auto industry was not in great shape, with sales down by 15% and production cuts of the order by 5 to 10% or more.

But now, since lockdown has come to its end, several manufacturing firms across auto, textiles, breweries, and fertilizers segment resumed operation and shops were also open in many parts of the country.

And now, as China reopens it’s economy post-COVID19 quarantine phase, the manufacturing epicenter is stepping onto an unusual scenario, where businesses and clients from across the world, are suspending or canceling business orders and corporate deals. This makes a big opportunity for India to provide a suitable alternative for the companies looking for relocation.

Narendra Modi’s ascent to power in 2014 and the grand launch of the “Make in India” manufacturing initiative was seen as the coming-of-age of India’s manufacturing potential. Through Make in India sought to pitch India as an alternative manufacturing destination to China, a wide-ranging projection of 25 varied sectors, ranging from leather to space, for investment meant emphasis on the big picture at the cost of more specific sectoral details.

India’s expanding economy and robust middle class provides a lucrative market while its abundant skilled and semi-skilled labor adds to the country’s ability to support bulk manufacturing, assembly, and processing.

This is going to create a lot of job opportunities for people from a different sections of society. Manufacturing jobs can involve the mechanical, physical, or chemical transformation of materials to create these new products. Manufacturing plants and factories need more than just people who work on a production line.
