Pine Labs chief executive Amrish Rau said the acquisition will allow the merchant-focused payments fintech to bolster its presence across the unorganised retailer segments including kiranas, help it cross-sell its merchant solutions to smaller retailers, and embed newer products such as payment links to its overall merchant offerings.
“Pine Labs’ expertise lies in the mid-market retailer segment, while Mosambee has been largely focused on smaller retail segments such as kiranas,” he told ET. “This is where the next stage of financial services and commerce activities will have an active play. Mosambee is focused on lighter devices and deviceless payment solutions for small kiranas. With the acquisition, Pine Labs will cater to all kinds of offline retailers while giving merchants an active choice.”
