Thiruvenkadu Budhan temple is dedicated to one of 9 planets of the solar system. Budhan is considered as son of Chandran. Although the main deity is Lord Shiva in form of Suvedharanyeswarar & Goddess Parvathy as Brahma Vidyambigai, Budhan is given importance here. Visiting & offering prayers on wednesday is very auspicious here. There are 3 theerthams here. The temple runs three schools, Hr sec school for Boys & Girls and an Elementary school. This temple is under HRCE of Tamilnadu. The temple stands on 2 acres of land & this is a very old temple even ahead of Ramayana in time. This temple is mentioned in Epic of Valmiki Ramayana.
The current temple structure was built by the Cholas & renovated by Vijayanagar Empire in 16th century.
