With everything going on, there's a good chance that you've noticed that your period might be a bit off track these last few months.
Before jumping to conclusions or self-diagnosing yourself with the first thing your Google search throws up, there might be a few points worth considering:
- Not everyone's period is the same. You are not in trouble if your cycle isn't exactly 28-30 days.
- Your cycle is bound to change over time, not just with age but changes in activity levels, sleep cycle, eating habits or even just stress.
- Consistency is key. If your cycle has consistently been different for a few months, maybe that's now your new cycle.
Few things you can do to ensure you're good:
-- Track your cycle. Look for signs that might indicate that something is off.
-- Talk to your gynecologist, even if just for reassurance that everything is fine.
-- Check your physical activity levels - are you doing too much or too little? Adjust to see how it affects your cycle.
-- Same with your eating. Increase protein and calories if you have been on a caloric deficit for extended periods of time.
Most importantly, do not self-medicate, even if with just home remedies. Seek medical help if you think you might need to troubleshoot your menstrual cycle.
