The benefit of investing in a minors name is that the amount invested is somehow much more safer because does an emotional connection that binds us to the commitment that this amount will be either used for our child's education or any of his future goals.

Also the amount invested can be redeem only in the name of minors bank account and not otherwise hence good option from an investment perspective.

Had a discussion with the client who had decided to invest Rs 30 lakh in post office mis scheme which earns them Rs 17500 per month at 7.5% per annum and Rs 5 lakhs in mutual fund s w p where as instead those 30 lacs if invested in mutual fund for swp of Rs 17500 per month with 12% return after 5 years leaving them with almost around Rs 40 lakh.
