PSA: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PUT UP WITH ABUSE/MISTREATMENT
I see so many posts here about how s**tty their practices are to work at, asking if this is normal and what they should do.

Here’s the thing, yes, many many offices are not great to work for, and plenty are downright hell holes. But NOT ALL OF THEM! NOT ALL!!

I found my dream office at the beginning of this year, and let me be clear when I say that by “dream office” I mean a place with healthy communication, no clique behavior, and dentists that aren’t a nightmare to work for and my dudes I FOUND IT

THEY EXIST

I LOVE the doctors I work for, I love my fellow assistants, I love the hygienists, I love the FD staff, I am so. So. HAPPY here.

So as someone that stayed with the hellholes way longer than they deserved, here’s my message, FIND A BETTER OFFICE. You CAN. It’ll take time but they’re out there.

I walked out at lunch
So I started at a General office yesterday. In my interview was super transparent that i’ve never done RCT, I have only ever made one temp crown and that was 2 years ago, and that I would need a major refresher course because i’ve been in peds for the last 2 years. I do have a year worth of experience in General but like I said i’ve been in peds for the last over 2 years. They assured me no problem at all we are happy to train you and give a refresher course. Anywho I started yesterday and big surprise they throw me in to see patients right out the gate. No tour of the office, no basic run down or what Dr uses, not even a breakdown of their software. It was pure chaos. I asked for help multiple times and was told (over the headset) that everyone is with a patient and no one is available. I told the assistant who was “training” me that I didn’t feel comfortable doing a crown prep on my own yet I wanted to watch and she told me to just get them started and then she’ll come in. SHE NEVER CAME IN. ALSO they don’t fricken bag their instruments (??) So yeah they sent me to lunch and I sent a nice message to the office manager explaining that I would not be returning. But I already have 3 interviews set up this week for other offices so i’m not upset about it. But ya just felt like I had to share my horrible (now kind of funny) experience.

Good News Everyone
Our savior is here. The Florida Surgeon General announced that adding Fluoride to water is malpractice and is recommending its removal. The voters have spoken. Their Mantra is Drill Baby Drill. Let’s not interfere with what the public wants. It is our civic duty to honor the will of the people. If we end up earning enough to buy a vacation home and a Porsche who are we to complain. So get out there and drill!!!
