In every breath of freedom we take, there is a story of sacrifice. This Goa Revolution Day, we remember freedom fighters like Late Shri Chandrahas Pundalik Naik Asolnekar who were detained in the Aguad Jail for rebelling against Portuguese colonialism.
Through stories narrated by his own children, we unravel the motives that drove him, the hardships behind the liberation and the sacrifice for freedom of Goa.

Show of Strength brought together the creative voices of 30+ Goa-based women artists, each sharing unique perspectives through diverse mediums and artistic practices.
Curated by Samira Sheth, the exhibition transformed the historic Aguad Port & Jail Complex into a space for dialogue, reflection, and creative expression. Through powerful artworks and meaningful visitor experiences, it celebrated resilience, identity, and the enduring strength of women in the arts.

At Aguad Port and Jail Complex, this commitment is reflected through an eco-friendly biodigester system for responsible waste management and a water management system that has revived the historic Aguad spring water for filtered consumption.
Across the premises, benches made from recycled materials give discarded resources a second life.
Together, these initiatives reflect Aguad’s ongoing effort to preserve heritage while embracing sustainable practices for the future.
