The ‘Sour Gift’ of the Present Hagrama Government to the different Communities of BTR :

The decision of the present Hagrama-led government to cut down the allocations of buildings, offices, and other developmental schemes earlier provided to various ethnic communities living in the BTR — such as the Bengali, Adivasi, Gorkha, Rajbanshi, Rabha, Hajong, Nath–Yogi, Minority and others different communities — is indeed a matter of serious concern.

While the cancellation of an individual project may be seen as a normal administrative decision, the act of reducing or withdrawing schemes meant for entire communities clearly reflects the mindset and attitude of the government toward those communities.

What is even more worrying is the silence of the representatives and leaders of different ethnic group under Hagrama’s leadership on this issue. Such silence does not send a positive message for regional unity and equal rights. Today’s silence could become the cause of tomorrow’s division — a possibility that cannot be ignored.
