⚑ EV Center of Excellence Commissioned at Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering

We are excited to share the successful commissioning of the Electric Vehicle Center of Excellence (EV CoE) at Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering, in collaboration with Decibels Lab.

As part of this initiative, we have installed three industry-grade systems:
1. Li-ion Cell Testing Setup
2. Model-Based Single Cell BMS Software Development Board
3. Advanced Electric Vehicle Powertrain Setup

To ensure effective adoption, our team conducted a 3-day intensive hands-on training program (April 6–8, 2026) for faculty members and students of the Mechanical Engineering department, focusing on practical learning, system operation, and real-world EV applications.

This EV CoE empowers the institution with industry-relevant infrastructure, hands-on learning capabilities, and future-ready skill development in electric mobility.

πŸŽ“βš‘ Strengthening EV Education with Industry-Integrated Labs

We are pleased to share feedback from Kiran Sir from Rajarambapu Institute of Technology, Rajaramnagar, SAKHARALE on the Electric Vehicle Lab established in collaboration with Decibels Lab.

With the rapid growth of electric mobility, institutions are evolving beyond traditional teaching by adopting hands-on EV lab infrastructure to enhance student learning.

The EV lab at RIT enables students to gain practical exposure in:
πŸ”‹ Battery Management Systems (BMS)
⚑ Electric Vehicle Powertrain Systems
πŸ“Š Measurement & analysis of key electrical parameters
πŸ”¬ Real-time experiments and applied research

This kind of infrastructure plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between academics and industry expectations, helping students build skills required for the EV ecosystem.

We appreciate the support and collaboration from the RIT team in driving forward industry-aligned EV education.

πŸ”‹πŸŒ‘οΈ How do Lithium-Ion Cells behave under different temperature conditions?

Temperature plays a critical role in determining the performance, safety, and lifespan of lithium-ion batteries. To properly understand and characterize cell behavior, testing must be conducted under controlled environmental conditions.

In this video, we demonstrate how thermal testing of lithium-ion cells is performed using environmental chambers integrated with battery cyclers.

πŸ”¬ What this setup enables:
β–ͺ Simulation of real-world temperature conditions
β–ͺ Cell soaking for cold or hot ambient scenarios
β–ͺ Charge and discharge testing at controlled temperatures
β–ͺ Internal resistance characterization
β–ͺ Testing of prismatic, pouch, and cylindrical cells
β–ͺ Battery degradation and performance analysis across temperature ranges

The environmental chambers showcased operate between βˆ’20Β°C to +80Β°C, enabling engineers and researchers to evaluate battery performance under a wide range of conditions relevant to electric vehicles and energy storage systems.

Such infrastructure plays a key role in EV battery R&D, BMS development, and validation testing.

πŸŽ₯ Watch the full video to understand how thermal testing facilities are structured and integrated for advanced battery characterization.
