🚨 OpenAI just launched GPT-5.5 — and it's built for real work, not just chat.

Released April 23, 2026, is calling it "the smartest and most intuitive
model yet." But the bigger story is what it's designed to do.

Here's what's new:

→ Agentic by design
Give it a messy, multi-step task and it plans, uses tools, checks its own
work, and keeps going until it's done — without step-by-step guidance.

→ Stronger at coding, computer use & research
Excels at writing/debugging code, analyzing data, creating documents and
spreadsheets, and navigating across tools.

→ Faster + more efficient
Same per-token latency as GPT-5.4, but uses significantly fewer tokens
for the same Codex tasks.

→ Strongest safeguards yet
Tested with 200+ early-access partners. New cybersecurity classifiers
to limit potential misuse.

OpenAI President Greg Brockman called it "a real step forward towards the
kind of computing we expect in the future."

The shift is clear: AI is moving from answering questions → to completing
tasks end-to-end.

This is what "AI agents" really mean. And 2026 is the year they go mainstream.
