Something shifts when women spend time in the ocean.

Underwater, Gabriella D’Cruz, marine conservationist and founder of The Good Ocean, stopped thinking about what her body looked like and started noticing what it felt like: calm and strong. The pressure to look a certain way simply falls away in the water. She sees it in other women too, this ease that the sea offers.

The same ocean led her somewhere else. In coastal Tamil Nadu, she met a community of women who harvest seaweed for a living and it changed how she saw the coast she came from. The body found peace. The work found purpose.

During winters, cucumber farming across India comes to a standstill. But not in Aliba, a small village tucked in the hills of Nagaland.
Here, cucumbers thrive in the cold without chemical fertilisers or pesticides. Just generations of knowledge, passed down through bamboo racks and patient hands. It all began in 1986, with a farmer and his hunch. Today, almost every home in the village grows them.

What started as a quiet experiment in the hills has become the identity of an entire village.

Harris Karishma, the daughter of D Pandian, a palmyra climber from a small hamlet in Tamil Nadu's Viluppuram, is the first woman climber of Tamil Nadu. Seeing her dad climb, she tried climbing a palm tree one day, only to find herself panicked midway, not knowing how to climb down. That was the start of her journey as a palm climber, at the age of 12. The 18-year-old now aspires to document the lives of those dependent on palm.
