team distributed anti-pollution masks to the Mangalore Traffic Police Personnel.

Some time back Anti-Pollution Drive Foundation in association with Mangaluru Traffic Police and Pulmonologists from Yenepoya Medical College had conducted a Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) for the traffic police personnel of our city who undertake frequent street duty. This test has revealed that many personnel suffer from weak lung functioning due to pollution.

The ordinary mask usually worn by the Traffic personnel do not prevent the pollutants from entering their respiratory system hence we are providing them with scientifically designed anti-pollution mask by Green Wings India. We are also releasing information pamphlets with simple guidelines to reverse the effect, protect their lungs and safeguard their health.

This is our way of saying thank you to the traffic policemen for staying out there on the roads exposed to the hot sun and all types of pollution and doing their work diligently in keeping us safe.

To grace and encourage our activities several dignitaries joined us and conveyed strong anti-pollution messages to the community. The APD Health information pamphlets were released by Sri UT Khader, Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare Govt. of Karnataka, the anti-pollution masks were handed over to the Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sri M Chandra Sekhar IPS, Sri J.R Lobo MLA of Mangalore south adorned the first anti-pollution mask on Sri Udaya Naik Assistant Commissioner of Police. Sri Mohiuddin Bava MLA of Mangalore North, Dr Sanjeev Patil Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime & Traffic), and H Lakshmi Kantha of KSPCB handed over masks to other traffic personnel’s.

Several suggestions in order to improvise the conditions of these Traffic Policemen were given to the Police Department by the Health Minister and the city MLAs. Sri Mahesh Nayak compered the program and Sri Bhaskar Aras delivered the vote of thanks.
