๐ Working of the Laser Security Alarm Project
1๏ธโฃ Laser Beam Alignment
A laser pointer is aimed directly at the LDR.
As long as the beam hits the LDR โ the system knows the area is secure.
2๏ธโฃ LDR Sensing
In normal condition:
LDR receives continuous laser light
Resistance is low
Circuit output remains stable
Alarm OFF
3๏ธโฃ Intrusion Detection
If anyone crosses the path:
Laser beam gets blocked
LDR receives no light
Resistance suddenly increases
Voltage at the sensor point changes
4๏ธโฃ Triggering the Alarm
This change activates the buzzer circuit.
Alarm starts ringing ๐ indicating unauthorized entry.
5๏ธโฃ System Reset
When the laser beam is realigned or obstruction is removed โ
LDR receives light again โ
Resistance drops โ
Alarm turns OFF.
๐น Why LED Needs a Resistor?
LEDs run safely only at low current (around 10โ20mA).
If you connect an LED directly to a 5V or 9V supply, it gets too much current and burns out.
๐น What the Resistor Does
A resistor acts like a current controller.
It slows down the extra current and keeps the LED safe.
๐น What Happens If You Donโt Use a Resistor
LED becomes very bright for a moment
Overheats
Burns out permanently
Can damage your board or battery
๐น Benefits of Using a Resistor
Safe and stable brightness
LED lasts longer
Circuit becomes reliable
No overheating or damage
๐น Common Resistor Values for LEDs
220ฮฉ (most commonly used)
330ฮฉ (slightly dimmer but very safe)
These values work for Arduino, 5V circuits, breadboards, and basic DIY project.
โWhy do we always use a resistor with an LED?
Simple โ it controls the current and keeps the LED glowing safely.
No resistor = LED burn out ๐ฅ
With resistor = Stable, safe and long-lasting glow ๐ก
