Job Description

As an individual contributor in systems engineering, you will work in a team environment
to provide system level support. In this role you will perform software installation and
customization, utilize diagnostic tools, system performance and tuning, determine
topology recovery, business analysis and continuity.

Responsible for CICS and MQ product sets on zSeries platforms including:
Installation, maintenance, and administration of MQ and CICS software. Manage
deployments of maintenance releases, red-alerts, and emergency maintenance.
Conduct software proof of concept and product evaluations
Perform project scoping, consultation and design services for internal and LOB
project work.
Research emerging technology and industry practices, and develop and maintain
Roadmaps
Serve as Point of Contact for Vendor relationships and engagement
Maintain standards and best practices documentation
Support for highly available, sysplexed MQ and CICS environments on zSeries.
Experience with implementing, and supporting MQ shared queues and MQ
cluster configurations. Working knowledge of the IIB and Pub/Sub.
Experience with CICS advanced features and functionality (CPSM, LOGR, Web
Services, SSL) and ability to collaborate with application developers on
application design.
Support for application development and testing, and for the analysis and
resolution of problems with the MQ and CICS product sets, in both production
and non-production environments
Design and develop exits and other facilities to enhance MQ infrastructure
(requires MQI and C or Assembler coding experience)
Performance analysis and tuning skills
Ability to work with other data center groups to develop and implement processes
that enhance the support infrastructure for the MQ and CICS product set,
including Automation, Change Management, operational procedures
Collaborate with the CICS Production Support team on problem and incident
management, disaster recovery, sustained resiliency, LOB testing events, and
capacity planning requirements as needed.
Drive creation and support scripted solutions for standard processes
Drive creation and support for automated solutions for the environment
Drive innovation – research of new features and functionality available in our
software/hardware and prepare a plan for rolling these innovations out to our
LOBs
Qualifications
MQ V7/V8 experience on zSeries
CICS Transaction Services v5.x
SMPE
Experience with Monitoring Tools (Mainview/Omegamon)
Experience with Scripting and Automating process and procedures
Substantial direct hands-on experience performing MQ and CICS systems
programming in a zSeries operating system environment involving
maintenance/installation.
Experience with USS, CA/ACF2, IBM RACF, IIB, Pub Sub, CICSPlex, CPSM,
CAFC, JAVA, and XML
Education:
BS in Engineering/Computing Science (or equivalent experience)

It may also include ISV product functionality comparisons, de-commissioning of existing products, installation of new products, transitioning products from test to QA to production environments, and providing business area/ end user technical support.
