In Memory of Professor P. C. Joshi: A Guiding Light for FEDI.
It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Professor Pooran Chand Joshi, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi and one of the earliest Implementation Advisors of the Foundation for Evidence-based Development in India (FEDI) since its inception in 2015.
From FEDI’s formative years, Professor Joshi generously offered his remarkable guidance, unwavering support, and thoughtful insights towards shaping our vision and mission. His passing is a profound loss to our organisation and to the broader academic and development community.
Professor Joshi was an iconic figure in anthropology, widely recognised as a pioneering expert in Medical Anthropology in India. His work has left a lasting and sustainable impact, earning respect both nationally and internationally. As the founding President of the Society for Medical Anthropologists, he not only helped revive ancient Indian systems of treatment but also mentored generations of anthropologists.
The entire FEDI family expresses heartfelt gratitude for his invaluable contributions to society. We honour his legacy and pray for peace for his noble soul.
